PERFECT AGAINST PARKSIDE
Green Bay has a perfect 19-0 all-time record against Parkside. The two schools first faced each other in 1978 when head coach Carol Hammerle's squad took the hard floor against the Rangers. Since then, the Phoenix has won every game, including the most recent matchup in 2004.
SCOUTING THE RANGERS
The Division II Rangers own an overall record of 3-5. Their leading scorer is also their leading rebounder. Alli Bettencourt averages 20.7 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. Last year, she made 71 three-pointers which ranks third all-time at Parkside.
LEAD UP TO LEAGUE PLAY
After Green Bay plays Parkside and the holiday season passes, the Phoenix will begin Horizon League play. Green Bay will play each of its fellow nine Horizon League opponents twice. The 18 straight conference games will begin on Friday, December 28 when the Phoenix travels to Milwaukee to face the Panthers.
RIVALRY ROUNDUP
Green Bay continues its stretch of four games that will all be played against fellow in-state opponents, as the Phoenix welcomes to UW-Parkside on Saturday. Green Bay owns an all-time record of 118-48 against the three division I teams hailing from Wisconsin (Parkside not included).
BATTLE ON THE BOARDS
The Phoenix has outrebounded its opponents 333-314 over the course of nine games this season. Redshirt Junior Madison Wolf leads Green Bay in rebounding. She averages 7.3 rebounds per game, which ranks ninth in the Horizon League. Wolf reached double-digit rebounds in her team's win against Wisconsin with a career-high 12.
TERRIFIC TUESDAY OVER MAINE
Green Bay's matchup Tuesday night turned out to be a favorable one for the Phoenix, who claimed a 70-39 victory over Maine at the Kress Center. GB tallied season highs in field-goal percentage, points scored and held Maine to season low in points allowed. Maine's previous low was 63 points versus No. 20 Duke.
TOUGH TESTS FOR THE PHOENIX
Green Bay is no stranger to tough opponents and in the 2018-19 campaign nothing has changed. The Phoenix has faced one Big Ten team and two ranked opponents and five NCAA Tournament Qualifiers in the first seven games and earned 3-4 record along the way. Although it was the first time since 2006 the Phoenix had a losing record three games into the season, Green Bay earned national attention by taking No. 15 DePaul to the wire and defeating No. 16 Missouri. Missouri is the highest ranked road opponent ever defeated by Green Bay and the highest ranked team to fall at the hands of the Phoenix since No. 12 Michigan State in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, a win which propelled GB into the Sweet Sixteen. The Phoenix is 3-3 against teams that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament.
FAVORED TO WIN NUMBER 21
For the 11th-consecutive year, the Green Bay women's basketball team will enter the season as the Horizon League preseason favorite, as announced by the league office during its media day event in early October. Green Bay is fresh off its 20th-straight Horizon League Regular-Season Championship and is no stranger to high expectations, with Head coach Kevin Borseth's Phoenix squad receiving 28 of the 29 first-place votes in the poll and accumulating 286 points to lead the nearest school by 41 (IUPUI).
DEFENSIVE MINDSET
Green Bay owned the nation's best statistical defense in the country a season ago, allowing a lowly 47.4 PPG. The Phoenix was the only program in the nation to hold opposing teams to lower than 50 points per game. With the reigning Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year returning to this year's roster, Green Bay will look for more of the same from its nationally recognized defense.
WHAT'S IN STORE FOR 2018-19
Borseth returns to the helm of the Green Bay women's basketball program for the 16th season in 2018-19, a year removed from leading the Phoenix to its 20th-consecutive regular season title and 18th NCAA Tournament appearance. The regular-season schedule features 14 home games, five nonconference matchups in addition to the nine league games.
WINNING TRADITION
Green Bay secured its 41st-consecutive winning season last year and trails only Tennessee (44) for the longest active streak in the nation. Green Bay's streak includes 20-straight conference titles and 18 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Phoenix also secured its 19th-consecutive 20-plus win season dating back to 1999-00.
WINNING....SINCE THE BEGINNING
The Green Bay women's basketball team is one of three Division I women's basketball programs that has had a winning record every year since the NCAA took over administration of women's college athletics in the fall of 1981. Essentially, the Phoenix has never had a losing record in the NCAA era. There only two other programs to accomplish the same feat, Tennessee and Georgia.
HORIZON LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS
Last season Green Bay made its ninth-consecutive Horizon League Tournament Championship game and 20th overall. The Phoenix owns a 16-4 all-time record in the tournament's biggest game and has won 16 of the last 21 titles.
20 STRAIGHT
The Phoenix clinched its 20th-consecutive regular season conference championship last season, a streak that dates back to the 1998-99 season. Green Bay's current consecutive title run is the longest active conference championship streak in the nation. To really put things in perspective, the last time that Green Bay lost a regular-season conference championship, five members of the team hadn't been born (Karly Murphy, Lyndsey Robson, Anna Brecht, Patricia Gallasová and Hailey Oskey).
