GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's tennis team collected their fourth-straight Horizon League match of the season today, shutting down UIC (6-10, 3-2 HL) in a dominating fashion on Senior Day, 5-2.
The Phoenix (10-9, 4-2 HL) took the doubles point today with a strong showing from senior
Florian Kraenzler and junior
James Ling, while the team of juniors
Miles McDowall and
Charlie Croxford were as dependable as ever. Green Bay then took four of the six singles sets.
"We played doubles aggressively today," remarked head coach
Tim Dean. "We expected the ball and attacked at the net. James and Tony played with a lot of positive moxy and took care of their opponents quickly for another solid team win."
He added, "It's always nice when we can get the doubles and singles clicking on the same day. Proud of our men for how they handled the rescheduling mentally, and it seemed fitting that Flo clinched the match on his senior day."
Green Bay will conclude the regular season tomorrow, Friday, April 20, against IUPUI. The match will be held at 11:30 a.m. in Mequon, Wisconsin, at the Mequon Elite Club.
