INDIANAPOLIS – The Horizon League has announced the twenty student-athletes who will participate on League Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the 2018-19 academic year. Volleyball junior
Maddie Yoss and men's basketball junior
Kameron Hankerson will represent Green Bay, with each of the ten member institutions being represented by two student-athletes.
Additionally, Northern Kentucky's Ava Lawson has been selected to serve as the League representative on Division I National SAAC.
The Horizon League SAAC will meet in Indianapolis in June to begin work for the 2018-19 year. Following the in-person meeting, SAAC members participate in several video conferences per year to discuss League issues. Additionally, each of the League's five cabinets (Student-Athlete Development, Competition, Messaging, Resources and Governance) will have one SAAC member serving their institution as its representative on the respective cabinet. In addition, one student-athlete will also serve as a voting member on the League's Council, alongside all ten Athletics Directors, one Faculty Athletic Representative, and one Senior Women's Administrator.
Lawson, who plays softball for the Norse, will be one of 32 members of the Division I National SAAC, one member for each of the 32 Division I conferences. The mission of the Division I SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete well-being and fostering a positive student-athlete image. SAAC members comment and react to legislative proposals, issues of interest, and actions taken by their Division.
