GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay Athletics and Oneida Nation are excited to announce an expansion of their partnership that will feature the first ever Oneida jersey patch for select Phoenix sports, multiple activities to celebrate the culture, community, and contributions of the Nation to this region, and engaging Phoenix student-athletes in mentorship activities with Nation youth.

"We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Oneida Nation and we are proud to wear the Oneida seal in competition," said Mark Murphy Endowed Director of Athletics Josh Moon. "Sports is an excellent way to bring people together and shine a light on the culture, tradition and contributions of the Nation to this region and beyond. I'm really excited to get our student-athletes more involved with mentoring of Oneida youth through many different activities."

The four-year agreement further strengthens one of Green Bay Athletics' most visible partnerships in the community. Over the past year, Nation and UWGB officials have collaborated on ideas that flourished into tangible efforts to demonstrate the long-standing respect and recognition that each entity has for the other.  Starting with fall competition, the Oneida Nation seal will be prominently displayed on all game jerseys for men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, volleyball and softball.

Oneida Nation Chairman Tehassi Hill states, "Building upon the relationship with Green Bay Athletics supports our philosophy of seven generations. Investing in our youth today, allows them to dream bigger for their future."

Phoenix student-athletes will also be involved in multiple youth mentoring and development activities throughout the year including school visits, sports clinics, participation in the Oneida Reads program, and other initiatives to provide positive role models for Oneida youth and build life lessons through sports. UWGB athletes will also participate in the annual Oneida Pow Wow, held each summer at the Norbert Hill Center. 

Building on last year's successful Oneida Celebration game vs. Haskell Indian Nations, UWGB will host Oneida Nation Celebration games for men's and women's basketball each year of the partnership, celebrating the tradition, culture and contributions of the Nation. Both UWGB basketball teams will wear custom Oneida Nation / Phoenix adidas uniforms designed by Nation artists that feature Oneida art and language.
