GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – A pair of goals from the feet of
Kayla Minor and
McKayla Kertscher secured a 2-0 shutout victory for Green Bay at Northern Illinois on Friday evening.
Courtney Klatt had a phenomenal performance in the net for Green Bay, grabbing eight saves in 90 minutes on her way to securing Green Bay's first shutout of the season. NIU tallied 12 total shots while limiting the Phoenix to only nine, but quality over quantity proved to favor Green Bay as two shots found the back of the Huskies' net.
Five members of the squad recorded shots on the evening, with Kertscher and Mara Pfeilstifer leading the way with three apiece.
Alycia Wright tallied the lone assist on the evening and her first of the season.
The Huskies fell to 0-6 on the season while Green Bay improved to 2-5. Green Bay will return to the pitch on Sunday in Vermillion, SD, when the team kicks off against South Dakota.
