Box Score YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) ---The Green Bay volleyball team (11-6, 3-2 HL) defeated Youngstown State this evening with their first sweep in conference play (25-13, 25-21, 25-14).

The Phoenix looked sharp on the road in sweeping the Penguins to start off the weekend. As a team, Green Bay hit .256 with 45 kills for the match. Sophomore
Shannon Coughlin led offensively with 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .364. Junior
Taylor Wolf followed with 12 kills and sophomore
Alexis Dorner also reached double-digits with 10 of her own. Senior setter
Maddie Yoss tallied 36 of the team's 42 assist on the night and added 4 kills of her own.
Defensively, the squad was solid too, logging 57 digs and 16 block-assist for the match. Freshman libero
Brenna Hesse led in digs with 23, followed by
Taylor Wolf with 9.Â
Maddie Yoss had 6 digs as well during the match, with the third giving her 1,000 for her career. Junior
Ashley Sledge led the way defensively at the net for the Phoenix, taking home 6 block-assist.
Set one (25-13) had the Phoenix firing on all cylinders. The beginning part of the set was close, but with the score at 11-9, Green Bay went on a 5-0 run and ended up taking nine of the final thirteen points to close things out. As a team, the squad had an impressive .382 hitting percentage with
Shannon Coughlin leading offensively with 5 kills.Â
Taylor Wolf and
Alexis Dorner each added 4 kills a-piece also. Defensively,
Brenna Hesse led with 9 digs.
Set two (25-21) went the way of the Phoenix. Green Bay started the second set up 4-0 off a pair of errors from Youngstown State and two kills from
Shannon Coughlin. However, the Penguins chipped away at the Phoenix lead and found themselves up 12-15 midway though. With Green Bay down 16-17, the team went on a 5-0 to seize control. Coughlin took home the kill on match point to give the squad the 2-0 lead for the match.
Set three (25-14) saw the Phoenix claim the set and the match. The set began back-and-forth but the Penguins eventually took a small lead. Down 7-9, Green Bay went on a 5-0 run to swing the momentum of the third in their favor. The team then went on a pair of 4-0 rallies and a 3-0 rally to put the set out of reach for Youngstown State. For the set, the squad had 15 kills and a hitting percentage of .262.
Next Game
Green Bay will be back at the Kress Center this Sunday (October 13
th) for a matchup against IUPUI at 2:00 p.m. CT. The match will be featured as a Youth Team Day, with posters being available and post-game autographs from the players.
