GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay women's soccer team took the field against Oakland on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Golden Grizzlies 2-0.
Green Bay now sits at 1-4-1 in the league season while the visitors move into second place in the conference standings at 3-1-1.
Green Bay celebrated its six seniors prior to the match, as
Courtney Klatt,
Alyssa Barnes,
Kayla Minor,
Morgan Courier,
Payton Benzschawel and
Emma Sloot were all recognized.
Green Bay outshot the visitors by a substantial margin at 17-6, including a six to three advantage in shots on goal, but the Phoenix was unable to find the back of the net on any of its attempts.
McKayla Kertscher tallied five shots and placed two on the mark to lead the Phoenix offense, while teammates
Caitlin Hawley,
Morgan Courier,
Sage Nelson and
Ellie Vasey all placed shots on goal.
Seniors
Courtney Klatt and
Emma Sloot divided up protecting the net on the afternoon, with Klatt serving as the keeper for the first 75' and Sloot entering in relief.
Green Bay concludes its home season on Wednesday, Oct. 23 when the team welcomes UIC to Aldo Santaga Stadium at 7 p.m.
