Green Bay Impresses in Second Half, Comes Up Short at Hot-Shooting Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay ran into a hot-shooting Wisconsin side on Thursday night at the Kohl Center, falling behind big early before scoring 41 points in the second half in its third road game to start the year. The Phoenix (1-3) fell 88-70 and has played in three of the toughest places to play in the country, visiting Purdue, New Mexico and now Wisconsin, but can look ahead to hosting a pair of home games next week in the Legends Classic Subregional at the Kress Center. 

The Badgers (4-1) hit 10 3-pointers in the first half and led 51-29 at the break, banking in a 3-pointer to close out the half. The second half was a different story, as the road-warrior Phoenix poured in 41 points and shot 53.3 percent in the final 20 minutes, going down with a fight in a place its never won. 

GB trailed by as much as 25, but used a 9-0 run in the second half and actually cut the deficit to 12 with just under 10 minutes to play. Wisconsin's size and balanced attack was too much, even with four players scoring in double-figures. Freshman Amari Davis continued his impressive start to his collegiate career, scoring a team-high 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting. JayQuan McCloud added 13 points and six assists, while Cody Schwartz had 12 and Josh McNair finsiehd with 10 points and five rebounds. 

Green Bay will return home to host the Legends Classic Subregional, starting on Sunday. Below is the schedule for the subregional, with all games taking place at the Kress Center on campus. 
Sunday, Nov. 24 - Colgate vs. CSUN - 4 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 25 - Green Bay vs. CSUN - 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 26 - Green Bay vs. Colgate - 7 p.m.
