Box Score GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) ---The Green Bay volleyball team (18-7, 10-3 HL) swept Youngstown State (25-17, 28-26, 25-19) at the Kress Center tonight in a bounce-back win in Horizon League play.
Green Bay 3, Youngstown State 0
The Phoenix took down the visiting Penguins through offensive efficiency and being a bit more effective on the backline defensively. Both teams totaled 110 attacks for the match but Green bay took home 45 kills compared to Youngstown States 33. Because of this, along with the visitors recording 2 more attack-errors than the Phoenix, the squad had a hitting percentage of .255 compared to the Penguins .127. On the defensive end, Youngstown State had 6 total-blocks, which bested Green Bay's 5.0. However, the Phoenix's 51 digs to that of the Penguins 45, assisted in the team earning the victory.
Junior
Taylor Wolf logged another double-double for Green Bay with 11 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore
Shannon Coughlin and junior
Anna Eaton followed Wolf in kills with 8 and 7 each. Eaton also hit an impressive .462 percentage on the night. Senior setter
Maddie Yoss contributed 34 of the 41 assist for the match, along with 5 kills on 8 attacks and 4 digs. Defensively, freshman
Annelise Sparks earned her first career-start at libero and led the Phoenix in digs with 13. Freshman
Brenna Hesse added 9 digs as well for the squad.
Set one (25-17) was dominated from start to finish by Green Bay, but the second set (28-26) saw the Phoenix come from behind to take the 2-0 lead in the match.Â
At the midway point of the set, Green Bay trailed Youngstown State 8-13. It wasn't until the team was down 14-21, that they began to chip away at the visitors lead. The Phoenix took 5 of the next 6 points to close the gap 19-22. The Penguins took the next point before the squad went on a 5-0 run to take a 24-23 lead. The two teams went back-and-forth before back-to-back kills to end the set from

Taylor Wolf gave Green Bay the 2-0 lead in the match. Nonetheless, junior
Kristen Paulus was the spark off the bench for the Phoenix during the second set by tallying 5 crucial kills off 8 attacks.
Green Bay took care of business in set three (25-19) to give themselves their seventh sweep of the season and an important win in conference play.
