LAST GAME'S STARTERS LAST TIME OUT (UCF 79, Green Bay 66; December 10)
  • Despite shooting 75 percent in the second half and getting 25 points from freshman Amari Davis against UCF, Green Bay came up on the short end of a 79-66 final on Tuesday night at Addition Financial Arena. The Phoenix (3-7) was playing its fourth-straight road game in four different states, scoring only 26 first half points before heating up for 40 in the second half against the host Knights (7-2).

Coming off his third Horizon League Freshman of the Week award, Davis poured in 21 of his 25 in the second half alone, going 10-for-12 in the final 20 minutes to help bring his team back. GB got to within 5 points, with the two teams exchanging runs. UCF pulled away late, using 10 offensive rebounds and forcing GB into 11 turnovers in the second half.

JayQuan McCloud made it 10-straight games in double-figures, finishing with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Kameron Hankerson had 12 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists off the bench for GB, which was without starting forward Josh McNair due to injury. McNair had started in each of the first nine games this season.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Evansville leads the all-time series 6-2, with the two teams splitting the only two prior meetings in Green Bay. The Purple Aces won 80-75 last season in Evansville, and GB beat them in 2014 at the Gulf Coast Schowcase, which GB went on to win. This meeting concludes a home/home series that started last year.
ABOUT EVANSVILLE (Missouri Valley Conference) RESCH READY
  • Following a trio of games at the Kress Center and seven others on the road, Green Bay will finally return home and this time at the Resch Center. Under Darner, GB has excelled at the stadium district venue, going 9-2 last season and is 40-13 at the Resch Center since he took over in 2015-16. Green Bay lit up the scoreboard in those 11 games last year, scoring 80 points or more in eight games and dumped 90 or more in four games.
TANK UPDATE
  • ShanQuan Hemphill will sit the remainder of the 2019-20 season due to injury and instead will file a medical redshirt, returning in 2020-21 for a fifth-year. Hemphill and the team were hopeful he could return in 2019-20, but unfortunately that will not be the case. He started in all 38 games a season ago and played in the first game this year against Purdue. Hemphill is a key loss for the Phoenix in 2019-20, but pursuing full health will come back stronger in 2020-21.
AROUND THE COUNTRY
  • Having already played seven road games in seven different states this season, Green Bay has traveled over 10,000 miles in only 35 days. That's an average of just over 300 miles per day since the season-opener at Purdue on Nov. 6. GB has played games in three different time zones during the nonconference and played the most road games in the first 10 games to start a season in program history. GB will get to play its next two games at home, and will wrap up its non-league schedule at Northern Illinois on Dec. 21.
LEADING THE LEAGUE
Where Green Bay stacks up among the 10 Horizon League teams:
  • 1st in scoring offense (80.1 PPG)
  • 1st in field goal percentage (46.4%)
  • 1st in 3-point field goal percentage (36.3%)
  • 3rd in turnover margin (2.8-1)
  • 1st in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.29-1)
  • 1st in assists per game (17.1 APG)
  • 2nd in steals (8.2 SPG)

FOR A THIRD TIME
  • Talented newcomer Amari Davis has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, the most freshman of the week awards for any player in Phoenix basketball history. Continuing to lead his team in scoring as a freshman while ranking sixth in the entire Horizon League, Amari Davis is now averaging 15.3 PPG thanks to another strong week. Davis poured in a team-best 19 points on the road at Xavier in a physical and competitive game in Cincinnati. He continues to shoot the ball at an extremely high clip, shooting 57.4 percent from the field, which ranks second in the Horizon League. Davis ranks in the top 10 of all freshman scoring in the NCAA, and will play twice this week at UCF and home to Evansville.
SHOOTING THE JAYQUAN
  • Senior JayQuan McCloud continues to be a reliable and consistent scoring option for the Phoenix, having scored in double-figures in all 10 games this year. He ranks 9th in the HL and scoring and is second on the team with 15.0 PPG. THe Preseason All-Horizon League member leads the Phoenix in rebounding with 4.6 RPG and assists with 43 this season. He's made 24 of 27 free throw attempts and has hit a team-high 26 3-pointers.
FOUR SCORE
  • Through nine games this season, Green Bay has four players averaging in double-figures led by Amari Davis and JayQuan McCloud, who are both averaging over 15 points per game. PJ Pipes is averaging a career-best 11.1 PPG and Kameron Hankerson is at 10.3 PPG, coming off the bench in the last four games.
SCORING IN RECORDS
  • Thanks to the 115-point outburst against UW-Stout in its home-opener, GB now has six of the top 15 highest scoring games in program history under head coach Linc Darner. The 115 points are tied for the most in the Division 1 era, the same total scored by Darner's Phoenix against Detroit Mercy in January 2016.
CONNECTING WITH KENPOM
  • After three games in the books, Green Bay has played at the 15th-fastest pace among all NCAA Division I teams, averaging 75.6 possessions per 40 minutes. In the four seasons under Linc Darner, here is where Green Bay has ranked in adjusted tempo:
    • 2018-19: 13th
    • 2017-18: 23rd
    • 2016-17: 7th
    • 2015-16: 6th
PIPES IT UP
  • Junior PJ Pipes is in the midst of the best individual season of his career, averaging 11.1 PPG while shooting 49.3 percent from the field. Pipes averages 7.0 for his career, and is nearly 5 points ahead of that career average for this season. He has started in 9 of his team's 10 games and is second on the team with 18 made 3-pointers. Pipes is also second on the team in minutes played and second in assists with 28 this season.
HORIZON HAPPY
  • With its 10 wins last season, GB has now won 10 or more games in League play in seven of the last eight seasons, and the third time in four seasons under Darner. The team has finished fourth or higher in the HL in six out of the last seven seasons as well, earning a postseason appearance in each of those six seasons. The HL preseason poll has GB tabbed fifth, behind Wright State, NKU, UIC and Oakland.
