POUGHKEEPSIE, NY. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay wrapped up its two-game road trip out east on Sunday afternoon at Marist, falling to the Red Foxes 72-60 at McCann Arena.

The matchup pit two of the top mid-major women's basketball programs in the country against one another, with both programs picked as favorites to win the regular season title in their respective conferences.

The Red Foxes were up 13 by the end of both the first quarter and the first half and led for 38 minutes, 25 seconds of the game. The Phoenix never was able to get the deficit to single figures after an 11-0 run that featured a trio of 3-pointers put Marist up 23-8 in the final seconds of the opening quarter.

Green Bay outscored Marist from the second quarter on but was never able to make up the advantage gained by the Red Foxes in the opening frame.

Frankie Wurtz led the Phoenix with 16 points and 8 rebounds while shooting 7-for-12.
Lyndsey Robson added 15 points and fellow junior
Caitlyn Hibner had 10 in her return to the lineup.

The Phoenix shot 37.7% (23-for-61) overall and 40.7% from 3 (11-for-27), while the Red Foxes finished at 43.3% overall (26-for-60) and 31.4% from 3 (11-for-35).

Grace Vander Weide finished with a career-high 20 points for the Red Foxes on a 6-of-10 effort from the field combined with a 4-for-6 effort from long range.

The Phoenix has lost three-straight games for the first time since the 2013-14 season, when GB dropped four-consecutive contests to South Dakota State, Wichita State, Purdue and Wisconsin.

Green Bay returns home to face South Dakota State at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Kress Center. It's the final nonconference game of the season before Horizon play starts against Northern Kentucky on Dec. 28.
