GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay dominated Oakland on its way to its 1,000th program victory in front of 2,172 fans at the Kress Center on Thursday evening, defeated the Golden Grizzlies 72-32.
Green Bay (17-8, 12-3) led wire-to-wire in in the win, becoming the 10th division one program to reach the milestone. The next closest is Western Kentucky, who currently sits two wins shy of joining GB with 1,000 all-time victories.
Green Bay locked down Oakland (6-20, 3-12)Â in the opening quarter, allowing only four points and jumping out to a 16-point lead at the end of the first.
Carly Mohns came out firing in the matchup, scoring 10 of her game-high 14 points in the first 10 minutes of action. Mohns went 6-of-11 in the matchup and pulled down six rebounds for the Phoenix in 21 minutes of play.
The Phoenix defense didn't afford the Golden Grizzlies many opportunities on the evening, forcing 20 turnovers and collecting 10 steals. GB also dominated action in the paint, outscoring OU 46-18 on its way to a 72-32 win.
Green Bay returns to its home floor for the final time in the regular season on Saturday, welcoming Detroit Mercy at 1 p.m. for Senior Day where
