GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay women's basketball team enjoyed two big wins on Saturday afternoon, raising nearly $9,000 to benefit Ribbon of Hope in its search for a cure for breast cancer and defeating league-leading Wright State, 56-37, to earn a split in the season series.
The first half of the game was a defensive battle, with WSU owning a one-point edge as the teams headed to the locker room, 22-21. The Phoenix quickly erased the deficit and started taking command of the game in the third quarter, scoring eight unanswered points to take a 29-22 lead.
Green Bay's relentless defense continued to put pressure on the Raiders, who were unable to find a solution Phoenix pressure throughout the game. GB held the Raiders to a season-low 37 points and a 0-for-19 performance from beyond the arc on its way to a 56-37 win.
Green Bay hits the road next week for matchups at Youngstown State (Feb. 15) and Cleveland State (Feb. 17).
