GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – With perfect weather in the mid-70s at Thornberry Creek at Oneida on Tuesday, the Green Bay men's basketball program hosted its annual Golf Outing presented by Oneida Casino. With over 80 golfers participating and the entire Phoenix team on the course to give thanks to the golfers, the event raised over $80,000 which will benefit the men's basketball program.
Following 18 holes of golf, the attendees enjoyed dinner and a live auction in the clubhouse. Auction items included trips with the team to Florida, Madison and Purdue, while also including a College World Series trip and a special party with the team. Winning teams also received special prizes for their competitive play.
"We want to give thanks to Oneida Casino as our title sponsor for the second year in a row," said head coach
Linc Darner. "Our program is very appreciative of the continued support we receive through our donors and local businesses. The money raised will go to help support our program in the coming years and will allow us to do some other projects and upgrades in our facilities and locker room. It was great to have our team be able to meet and greet some of our biggest supporters."
The day also included various raffles, longest putt, longest drive and beat the coach contests throughout the event. The outing wraps up the summer season for the program, with team members now taking the month of August off before starting fall classes after Labor Day.
