GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – A five-goal effort led the Phoenix past Arkansas Pine Bluff on Thursday night, with five different members of Green Bay finding the back of the Golden Lions' net in the 5-1 victory.
GB improved to 4-3 with the victory and scored its highest single-game total since 2015 when the Phoenix defeated Chicago State 7-0.
The first score of the evening came from the foot of Alyssa Barnes in the 35th minute, which was followed closely by a goal from teammate Sage Nelson in the final minute of the half.
Ellie Vasey got the Phoenix off to a hot start in the second half as well to keep the momentum, firing one past UAPB keeper in the 50th minute to increase Green Bay advantage to three goals.
The Golden Lions cut the Phoenix lead to two in the 60th minute, but insurance goals from Grace Taylor and Dani Hajdukiewicz sealed the 5-1 win.
It's a quick turnaround for the Phoenix, as the team returns to the pitch on Saturday to face Mississippi Valley State followed by a match at Alcorn State on Sunday.
