GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay women's soccer team completed a successful three-game road trip on Sunday afternoon, scoring the most goals in a single game since 1993 in an 8-0 win over Alcorn State.
The three-game weekend consisted of three wins, 17 Phoenix goals and two shutouts. A total of 11 different members of the team found the back of the opposition's net in the road trip, with
Grace Taylor leading the way for the Phoenix with three goals.
Ellie Vasey helped run the offense, matching Taylor's eight points on the weekend after notching a team-high four assists and two goals.
Morgan Myers was the first to find mesh in Sunday's pairing, doing so in back-to-back fashion after scoring goals in the sixth and 12
th minute to give Green Bay a 2-0 lead.
Morgan Courier added another goal in the 14
th minute to grant the Phoenix a 3-0 lead at the half.
Green Bay continued its scoring barrage in the second half with five goals as
Ellie Vasey, McKatyla Kertscher,
Mia Spain,
Jordyn Cook and Caitlyn Hawley all beat the Braves keeper.
The Phoenix totaled seven assists in the matchup to tie the program's single-game high and allowed only one total shot all afternoon, which was saved by goalkeeper
Claudia Janese.
Green Bay will now shift its focus to Horizon League play as the team prepares to host Cleveland State next Friday at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
