INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Earning the award for a sixth time this season, Green Bay freshman guard Amari Davis has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Davis helped lead GB to wins over Oakland and Detroit Mercy, scoring 19 and 22 points in those games at home. Since the award began in the 2013-14 season, Davis became the first Phoenix player to earn the award multiple times in a season, and is just the 6th player in the history of the award to win six or more times.

Davis' week: Amari led the Phoenix to a pair of victories this past week at home, averaging 20.5 PPG in the two games against Oakland and Detroit Mercy. Davis went 17-for-32 in the two games, shooting 53.1 percent on the week and playing 32 minutes in each contest. The left-handed freshman went 7-for-8 at the free throw line, had 7 rebound and 8 assists in those wins as well. He ranks third in the Horizon League in scoring with 16.7 PPG and leads the team in that category, and is also averaging 18.0 PPG in Horizon League games alone.

Green Bay and Davis will play its next two games on the road, making the Cleveland State-Youngstown State road swing this coming weekend.
