INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- For a fifth time this season, Green Bay freshman guard
Amari Davis has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Davis helped GB take down UIC on Friday night and leads the team in scoring with 15.5 PPG. Since the award began in the 2013-14 season, Davis is the first Phoenix player to earn the award multiple times in a season, and is just the 6th player in the history of the award to win five or more times.
Davis' week: Davis led the Phoenix with a game-high 21 points in Green Bay's convincing 85-71 win over UIC at the Resch Center, also grabbing 5 rebounds. Davis came back on Sunday to score 10 points against IUPUI, averaging 15.5 PPG on the week and 4.5 RPG. He continues to lead GB in scoring with 15.5 PPG and has three 20-plus point efforts this season, including double-figure scoring games in 14 of 17 games this season.
Up next for Green Bay is a home game against in-state rival Milwaukee this Saturday night at the Resch Center. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. and will be a Bud Light Night, Alumni Night and include a throwback jersey giveaway.
