MADISON, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Head coach Will Ryan made his return to the Kohl Center on Tuesday night, leading Green Bay against No. 4 Wisconsin in the second game of the 2020-21 season. It was also the second-consecutive matchup the Phoenix took the floor against a Big Ten opponent.

The matchup highlighted many connections across both programs, ranging from Coach Ryan's time on the sidelines with the Badgers to Assistant Coach Freddie Owens' playing days for the red and white.

Green Bay managed to score first in the pairing after reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year Amari Davis finished at the rim through contact, which was no small feat considering the Badgers jumped out to a 25-0 lead in their last game.

The Phoenix continues to incorporate a new system and values the non-conference minutes after returning only two players with in-game experience from last season.

Davis, who broke the program's freshman scoring record last season, made his first career three-pointer early in the second half after PJ Pipes found him in the corner.

Josh Jefferson broke into double figures for the second-straight game after making his return to the court, following up his 14-point performance at Minnesota with a 12-point outing against the Badgers.

Wisconsin shot 55.7% (34-61) from the field and 45% (9-20) from long range as the Badgers claimed their 11th-straight win, 82-42.

Green Bay will now shift its focus to Saturday's home opener at the Kress Center against Eastern Illinois with tip-off slated for 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
