INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The new Horizon League record-holder. Green Bay guard Amari Davis has been named the HL Freshman of the Week for the record-breaking ninth time this season, the most weekly awards by any freshman in the history of the Horizon League. Davis breaks away from tying the previous record of eight, which he achieved last week. What's even more impressive, Davis has broken the record with still two weeks remaining in the regular season. 

Davis' week: The leading scorer in what might end being Green Bay's most important win of the season, Amari Davis tied his career-high with 28 points on a scorching 11-for-15 shooting from the field in a 94-90 win at Milwaukee. Davis played 37 minutes and went 6-for-7 at the free throw line as well, grabbing four rebounds and netting his eighth 20-plus point performance of the season. It's the third time this season Davis has scored 28 points, and the second time ironically, he has done so against Milwaukee. The Trotwood-native is fifth in the Horizon League in scoring with 16.3 PPG and leads the HL in field goal percentage at 51.9 percent. Davis played a key role in the run that pushed GB back in front of MKE after falling down by nine, scoring six-straight points at one point for the Phoenix.

Davis and the Phoenix will travel to Metro Detroit this coming weekend, visiting Detroit Mercy on Friday night and Oakland on Sunday. GB sits in a tie for third place with Youngstown State at 8-6 in league play.
