GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Damontae Taylor from Zion, Ill., has signed his NLI, making him the newest member of the Green Bay men's basketball program entering the 2020-21 season. The 6-6 athletic guard averaged 20.2 PPG and 9.1 RPG during his senior season at Zion-Benton High School under well-known coach Bob Worthington, who played his collegiate basketball at powerhouse Michigan State.

Damontae Taylor
High School: Zion-Benton HS (IL)
Hometown: Zion, Illinois
Height: 6-6
Position: Guard

Darner on Taylor: "We are very excited to have Damontae join our program. He comes from an outstanding program at Zion-Benton High School. He will be able to play multiple positions which fits perfectly into our system. Damontae is an outstanding athlete that will bring a lot of excitement to Green Bay with his ability to block shots, fill the lanes and finish in transition.

Taylor on Green Bay: "With all this stuff going on, I felt it was a good school for me to settle down and it is also close to home. I'm excited for an opportunity to show what I'm capable of doing. I like the playing style because we get up and down the court. I like to play fast. The coaching staff also showed a lot of loyalty to me and showed they really wanted me."

Worthington on Taylor: Damontae is a very versatile basketball player on both ends of the floor. We've had some really good basketball players to come through the Zion Benton pipeline. Players like Admiral Schofield (Tennessee, Washington Wizards), Malik Yarbrough (Illinois State/NBA Europe) and Lenzel Smith (Ohio State, Barcelona Spain NBA Europe). Damontae has more upside than anyone to have played at Zion Benton. His strengths are his athleticism, toughness and his ability to defend 1-4. He loves transition basketball and absolutely thrives in that environment. Very capable midrange jump shooter with a very good knack at getting to the basket. Either finishing with huge crowd pleasing dunks or making shootable passes to teammates.

Once the recruiting process started at Green Bay, Damonte started watching how GB played. He would often say how fast it was and that's what he wanted to do! Damontae's body style, IQ and toughness makes this a great fit. I am extremely proud of his achievements and grateful to Coach Darner and Coach Swank for allowing Damontae into their basketball family.

When I stop having fun I'll be done ??
