GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Regarded as one of the top seniors in the state of Wisconsin, Terrance Thompson (La Crosse, Wis.) has signed his National Letter of Intent to play for head coach
Linc Darner and Green Bay starting in 2020-21. Thompson, ranked in the top 10 across various recruiting platforms for high school seniors in basketball for the state of Wisconsin, was one of the most sought after players in the Midwest. At 6-8, Thompson can both post up inside and step outside the arc, giving the Phoenix a nice add its program.
Thompson averaged 12.8 points and 5.9 rebounds this past season, helping the Central Red Raiders go 20-5 and reach a WIAA Division 2 sectional championship game before the COVID-19 pandemic ultimately ended their season. He scored over 1,000 points in his high school career and grabbed over 500 rebounds.

Darner on Thompson: "Somebody of his talent and what he is going to bring to us is very exciting. Can't wait to get him here and work with him. He's a guy that can do a lot of different things," Darner said. "He has really expanded his game over the time when we first started recruiting him to where now he steps out and shoots it well and shoots the 3-ball well and can go inside and score. Can really get out and run the floor.
"Just all those things. I think a lot of what it was what we thought he could be down the road. Coach Randall Herbst did a great job of staying in touch with him, staying in touch with his high school coach. Building a great relationship with him.
Thompson on Green Bay: "I'm committing pretty late for a senior. I think me staying patient really helped me figure out who was really there and who really wanted me to play, and the coaches at Green Bay made me feel like it was my home. I think l made a really good decision. They were the first to offer and were very loyal," said Thompson. "I really appreciated them doing that, and it helped me make the decision to go there. I'm really just concerned with basketball right now and help this team get to the tournament."
