GREEN BAY -- The first regular season game for Green Bay in 2020-21 will certainly present a challenge. The Phoenix will open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 10 with a trip to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Gallagher-Iba Arena. This will mark the first all-time meeting between the schools, and the first time GB has played in the state of Oklahoma since the 2016 NCAA Tournament game against Texas A&M.

For the second-straight year, GB will visit a Power 5 school for its season-opener, after playing at Purdue to open the season last year. With the addition of Purdue Fort Wayne to the Horizon League, GB will play 20 Horizon League games in 2020-21, leaving only a max of 11 games to play in the non-conference portion of the season. 

The Cowboys, which went 18-14 overall and 7-11 in the BIG 12 a season ago, will serve as a rare BIG 12 opponent for the Phoenix program. GB visited Kansas State back in November 2016, but hadn't faced an opponent from that conference since 2002 prior to that, when it faced K-State again and Missouri.

ABOUT OKLAHOMA STATE
This year's OK State team will have a talent-enriched makeup from last year, since the program signed the No. 1 recruit in the country in Cade Cunningham. Cunningham is rated either first or second on various recruiting websites, and is projected to be a top 5 draft pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Cunningham joins a recruiting class for the Cowboys that is rated in the top 10 in the NCAA on those same sites, combined with a few players who played significant minutes this past year. 

The Cowboys are projected to be in or just outside the Top 25 polls as the season starts next year, giving the Phoenix a potential nationally-ranked open once again to open the year. Early bracketology projections have Oklahoma State as a No. 8 seed, and a host of college basketball media members have the Cowboys ranked in their preseason Top 25.

As in years past, OK State will not serve as the only Power 5 school on the Phoenix schedule. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more 2020-21 game announcements.
