Green Bay Grinds Out Win at Fort Wayne, Earns Sweep and Sixth Straight Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. --- Earning its sixth win in a row, the Green Bay women's basketball team held off Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday afternoon 70-59 at the Gates Sports Center. The Phoenix (6-2 HL) shot 49 percent and held a strong 36-24 rebounding advantage, once again dominating in the paint 38-10.

It was a balanced attack that carried GB to another win, with seven players scoring seven points or more. Hailey Oskey led all scorers with 13 points, finishing 6-for-8 from the field.

GB led by as many 20 points in the second half, and kept PFW at arms length the final 20 minutes. The Phoenix led by nine at the break, and by 11 at the end of the third, winning its fourth straight road game in the process. PFW did hit 11 3s, but needed 35 attempts and converted four in the fourth quarter when they were facing a large deficit.

A day after netting a career-high tying 18 points, Lyndsey Robson added 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Senior Caitlyn Hibner filled out the stat sheet, scoring nine points and grabbing nine rebounds, as did Brooklyn Blackburn. Blackburn added eight points and seven rebounds off the bench, helping GB hold a 28-16 in bench scoring.

Also chipping in was Cassie Schiltz and Meghan Pingel, scoring nine and eight points respectively. Sydney Levy came on for seven points, helping the Phoenix pour in 20 points in the fourth quarter.
PFW was led by Sierra Bell with 21 points, with two other players finishing in double figures.

The Phoenix will hit the road to face Cleveland State next weekend, looking to stay hot and challenge the top of the Horizon League standings leaders.
