GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay volleyball team is set to open the 2020-21 season at the Kress Center, welcoming Cleveland State on Monday, January 25 and Tuesday, January 26. Monday's matchup will see first serve at 3 p.m. with Tuesday's getting underway at 1 p.m.

PRESEASON POLL
The Horizon League released the spring 2021 preseason poll on January 21 with Green Bay picked to finish fourth. The Phoenix also received two first place votes in the poll voted on by the league's head coaches. Wright State was labeled the favorite, edging defending Horizon League Tournament Champion Northern Kentucky in the poll. The Raiders earned five first-place votes and 112 total points compared to 111 total points and three first-place votes for the Norse.

GOOD THINGS HAPPENING AT HOME
Green Bay finished an impressive 21-9 in the 2019 campaign and was nearly unbeaten at home, finishing 11-1 within the friendly confines of the Kress Center. Under head coach
Abbey Sutherland, the GB volleyball program is an astonishing 21-1 at home – a stretch which includes a Horizon League Tournament Championship after the Phoenix earned hosting rights in 2018.

EXPERIENCED PHOENIX
Green Bay has a total of six upperclassmen on the roster this season, as
Kristen Paulus,
Ashley Sledge and
Anna Eaton open their senior campaigns, and
Alexis Dorner,
Shannon Coughlin and
Iro Chounta return as juniors. The Phoenix also welcomes
Alexandra Zakutney back into the fold after she missed the 2019 season due to injury. Zakutney was named to the all-freshmen team in 2018.
WARM WELCOME
The Phoenix welcomes four newcomers to the roster in the 2020-21 season, with
Emily Larson,Â
Addy Karmik,
Sydney Rabe and
Danilynn Schell all gracing the roster. Larson and Rabe are standouts from Wisconsin, while Karmik comes from neighboring Illinois and Schell hails from Wyoming.

FAN ATTENDANCE
At this time, Green Bay will not host fans for home matches at the Kress Center. Phoenix fans can watch ALL volleyball matches on the ESPN family of networks as in past years.
