MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - In Friday afternoon HL action, the Green Bay men's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Robert Morris 3-2 on the road at North Athletic Complex.
The Phoenix grabbed a 2-1 lead in the 81st minute, but couldn't hold Robert Morris down, as the Colonials found an equalizer in the 88th minute. Then in the game's 90th minute Ethan Hoard got on the end of a ball from Josh Johansen to give the Phoenix their winner. The win improved Green Bay's record to 2-9-4 overall and 1-6-2 in Horizon action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Robert Morris grabbed a 1-0 lead when Charlie Lawrence scored in the third minute, assisted by Bryan Akongo.
The Phoenix levelled the match on a goal from Josh Johansen -- his first goal of the season -- in the 54th minute, assisted by Tim Stiller.
Green Bay then grabbed a 2-1 lead on Ethan Hoard's 81st-minute goal, his third of the season. Stiller assisted the goal.
The Colonials knotted things up at 2-2 with an 87th-minute goal from Colton Spence, assisted by Tom Akinola.
Green Bay broke the tie and took a 3-2 lead on Hoard's third goal of the season in the 89th minute, assisted by Johansen.
GAME NOTES
- Tobias Jahn piled up four saves for the Phoenix out of 17 total Colonials shots.
- Green Bay recorded 10 shots on goal, compared to Robert Morris' six.
UP NEXT
GB will return to Aldo Santaga Stadium next Wednesday to take on UIC in their final game of the season.
