ABOUT THE BADGERS
Wisconsin has started the year 2-8, and is currently on a four-game skid. Earlier this year the Badgers dropped a contest against fellow Horizon League members, Milwaukee, 79-67. Wisconsin is led by the tandem of Julie Pospisilova and Sydney Hilliard. Pospisilova averages 15.0 points and 3.8 rebounds while Hilliard averages 14.2 and 5.2.
SERIES HISTORY
The two in-state rivals have an extensive history, playing each other 35 times. Wisconsin has the advantage in the matchup, winning 20 of the 35 times. When playing the Badgers in Madison, the Phoenix have a 7-9 record.
LAST MATCHUP
The last time these two teams matched up was on December 8, 2021 at the Kress Center in Green Bay. After falling behind in the first half, GB put together a 32-21 second half to grab the contest 55-46.
Meghan Pingel played 25 minutes of the bench, scoring seven points to go along with four rebounds.
LAST TIME OUT
Green Bay is wrapping up a five-game road trip on Sunday against the Badgers. Last weekend the Phoenix split a pair of Horizon League contests. On Thursday, Dec. 2, GB beat Robert Morris 63-44. On Saturday, Dec. 4, GB fell to Youngstown State 67-58.
WINNING....SINCE THE BEGINNING
Since the NCAA took over administration of women's college athletics in the fall of 1981, GB women's basketball is one of three Division I women's basketball programs that has had a winning record every year. The only two other programs to accomplish the same feat are Tennessee and Georgia.
CAREER-HIGHS ALL AROUND
In the phoenix win over Robert Morris on Thursday, Dec. 2, three different players finished with career-highs in points.
Cassie Schiltz poured in a team-high 16, while
Sydney Levy and
Bailey Butler chipped in 14 and 10 points respectively.
DIAPER DANDIES
In GB's loss to Youngstown State, the team's three true freshmen came to play.
Bailey Butler once again scored a career-high, with 14 points to go with six rebounds and two steals.
Callie Genke put up a career-high 12 points while
Maddy Schreiber added seven points and eight rebounds.
GREEN BAY WAY
Green Bay features one of the best defenses in the Horizon League. The Phoenix currently allow just 58.8 points per game, fourth-best in the league. Robert Morris leads the league, allowing 56.1 points per game.
HOT-HANDED HAILEY
Junior
Hailey Oskey has made 25 of 29 attempted free throws this year (86.2-percent), which is the second-best mark in the Horizon League.
PINGEL PASSING
Meghan Pingel is one of the best distributors in the Horizon League. She currently averages the third-most assists per game in the league (4.3) as well as the fifth-best assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5).
ON THE HORIZON
After today's game against Wisconsin, GB will return home to host Chicago State and Central Michigan for their final two non-conference games. The Phoenix will restart their Horizon League schedule when they welcome Detroit Mercy and Oakland on Dec. 30 and Jan. 1.
