GREEN BAY, Wis. – After a cancelled game against Chicago State last week, the Green Bay women's basketball team is back in action on Monday, taking on Central Michigan at 7 p.m. It's the first game at home for the Phoenix since a 78-67 win over Wright State on November 20.

ABOUT THE CHIPPEWAS
A member of the Mid-American Conference, the Central Michigan Chippewas have been a program to reckon with the past decade. In the past 10 seasons, Central Michigan has posted a 215-107 record, and won three MAC Tournament Championships, including one last season. The Chippewas have had a slower start than usual to the 2021-22 season, going 2-6 in their first eight games. The Chips are currently on a three-game losing streak.
Central Michigan is led by Molly Davis, who is averaging 15.1 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.4 rebounds. Davis is shooting 34.6-percent from the field. She is also an impressive 35-for-38 from the free throw line this season. Jahari Smith is another leader for the Chippewas, averaging 10.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. She shoots an efficient 65.4-percent from the floor.
SERIES HISTORY
Green Bay and Central Michigan have met eight previous times, dating back to February of 1974. The Phoenix and Chippewas have gone back and forth, with Central Michigan winning the first four games. Green Bay has found more success in recent times, winning three of the last four, which includes a 2-0 record at home.
LAST TIME OUT
The Phoenix took care of business against Wisconsin on Dec. 12, defeating the Badgers 63-53. It was the eighth time GB had won in Madison all-time and marked the third consecutive win in Madison for the Phoenix.
HEADING FOR 450
With 10 more wins, head coach
Kevin Borseth will reach 450 wins all-time in his career at Green Bay. after the victory over Wisconsin, he has 440 wins, along with just 130 losses. Borseth won his 750th career game against Oklahoma State on November 26.
DOMINATING DEFENSE
The Phoenix boasts the Horizon League's third-best defense, giving up just 58.1 points per game. Green Bay is right behind IUPUI (58 ppg) and Cleveland State (56 ppg). All three teams are in the top five for scoring margin in the HL.
FRESHMEN PHENOMS
For the second straight week, the Horizon League has named a Phoenix player Freshman of the Week. First, it was
Bailey Butler, getting the honor the week of dec. 6. Then, on Monday,
Maddy Schreiber was named FOTW after having a strong performance at Wisconsin. The Appleton, Wis. native scored eight points while also registering career-highs in rebounds (9), assists (3), and minutes (31).
STEALING THE SHOW
True freshman
Bailey Butler continues to shine this season. the South Wayne, Wis. native has 17 steals, a team-high that bests the second-most by seven. Butler had her best game of the season on Dec. 4 against Youngstown State, when she set career-highs in points (14), rebounds (6), minutes (29), field goals made and attempted (5-12), and three-point field goals made and attempted (4-9).
SHOOT YOUR SHOT
Junior
Hailey Oskey has found her mark this season, eclipsing 10 points per game while shooting 37.7-percent from the field. Oskey has impressed with her ability to get to the charity stripe, where she is 30-for-35 (85.7-percent). Her 35 free throw attempts are 15 more than the next player, which is
Meghan Pingel at 20 attempts.
FILLING UP THE BOXSCORE

Meghan Pingel has been a contributor in multiple categories for the Phoenix. She averages 6.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while playing a team-high 27.6 minutes per game.
MINUTES FOR MADDY
Despite coming off the bench in all nine games,
Maddy Schreiber has made her presence known. The true freshman is averaging 25.3 minutes per game, the third-best on the team. Schreiber is shooting 48.2 percent overall from the field (27-56) and is shooting 45 percent from beyond the arc (9-20), both of which are team-highs.
