GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Although this Senior Day was anything but typical, Green Bay was still able to honor its trio of seniors prior to tipoff.
PJ Pipes and
Josh Jefferson were recognized for their contributions on the court, while student assistant Carl Semrow was asknowledged for his role behind the scenes the past four seasons.
Green Bay was nearly able to complete a comeback and earn a sweep of the Norse after Jefferson and Pipes knocked down back-to-back triples to take a one-point lead, 66-65, with just over 90 seconds remaining.
NKU's Marques Warrick scored in the paint on the following possession to regain the lead for the Norse. David Bohm increased Northern Kentucky's lead to three after a layup with only 14 seconds left.
Green Bay was unable to convert its answering possession and was forced to foul. Bryson Langdon hit two free throws to seal the NKU victory, 71-66.
Jerfferson scored a game-high 26 points to follow up his career-high 27 from Friday night. The guard buried four triples while collecting four rebounds and three assists.Â
Amari Davis was the other double-digit scorer for GB, adding 12 points and seven rebounds in 38 minutes. Pipes made his way back into the starting lineup after missing Friday's game and scored eight points in 33 minutes.
The Phoenix heads to Chicago, Ill., next weekend for back-to-back games against UIC to close out the regular season.
