Green Bay Finishes Regular Season with Sixth-Straight Win, Sweep of Wright State

FAIRBORN, Ohio --- Winning its sixth-straight game to close out the regular season and securing a top three seed in the process, the Green Bay women's basketball team swept league-leading Wright State with a 61-56 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Nutter Center. The Phoenix finish the league season with a 14-4 record and will await its seed after all games conclude and the HL releases the official bracket for the 2021 Horizon League Basketball Championship.

After a cold shooting first half, GB finished 11-for-20 in the second half to put away the Raiders (15-5 HL) and enter the tournament as the hottest team in the League. Caitlyn Hibner poured in 20 points and seven rebounds on a 50 percent shooting day, making her case for a First Team All-League nod.

Fellow-senior Meghan Pingel scored 10 points with seven assists, finishing a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. With WSU threatening late, GB was able to put the game away at the charity stripe, finishing 20-for-26 in the game.

It wasn't the most efficient offensive performance by GB, which made just seven field goals in the first half. The Phoenix defense, a continued emphasis, was able to keep the Raiders off balance all game as well. GB held WSU to 9-for-30 from the field in the second half and 19-for-60 overall.

Lyndsey Robson and Cassie Schiltz added seven points each, with Robson hitting a clutch 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter with WSU only down four. Hailey Oskey, Jasmine Kondrakiewicz and Sydney Levy all finished with five points.

There were seven lead changes in the game, after the two teams played a tight contest on Friday night before GB won by a 66-62 margin.

Green Bay entered the day in the No. 3 spot after the most recent seedings were announced. The road win will at worst keep GB locked into the No. 3 seed, with a chance to climb to No. 2 or even No. 1 depending on the final calculations.
