DEKALB, IL --The Green Bay volleyball team lost to the 2nd-ranked Wisconsin Badgers in three sets (17-25, 11-25, 19-25) Friday at Victor E Court on the campus of Northern Illinois University, playing in its final nonconference game of the 2021 season. Wisconsin has lost two sets all year, both coming against top-10 ranked teams. GB knocked off NIU yesterday, so finishes 1-1 in the two-game series in Illinois.
Green Bay finishes 5-7 in nonconference play, and opens Horizon League action next week at Purdue Fort Wayne and IUPUI.
Shannon Coughlin finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Phoenix offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .35. GB got eight digs from Calli Gentry to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Phoenix found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-17. Green Bay trailed by as many as eight points as Wisconsin grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that was tied up five times before the Badgers took control.
SET 2 | Green Bay dropped the second set 25-11, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Phoenix fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Green Bay couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Phoenix lost a tough set 25-19. Green Bay trailed by as many as six points as Wisconsin grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Badgers took over in the second half of the stanza.
