GREEN BAY -- Green Bay got a hat trick, the first for the program since 2009, from McKayla Kertscher in a 3-1 win against Northern Illinois on Thursday (Sept. 9) at home at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
The win improved Green Bay's record and wrapped up the nonconference portion of the schedule with a 3-0-1 overall record. The Phoenix scored multiple goals in three of its four matches.
How it Happened
Green Bay grabbed a 1-0 lead when Mckayla Kertscher scored her first of three goals in the game in the 17th minute, assisted by Emily Murphy.
The Phoenix tacked on another score on another goal from Kertscher -- in the 23rd minute, again assisted by Murphy.
Green Bay expanded its lead to 3-0 on Mckayla Kertscher's 26th-minute goal, her fourth goal of the season and third in the game. Sarah Teubner and Lilja Bjorg Geirsdottir assisted the goal.
The Huskies cut into the Phoenix lead and made it a 3-1 game with a 37th-minute goal from Claudia Muessig. The goal capped the scoring in the match.
