GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay men's soccer team and head coach Jeremy Bonomo have announced the addition of five newcomers to the Phoenix roster ahead of the 2022 season. Bonomo enters his eighth year at the helm of the program.
 
"We are excited to add these five players for this January," Bonomo said. "Each one brings a specific characteristic to our roster which was very much needed. With this being the beginning of a large and important class, I couldn't be happier. This will be our first true recruiting class since the start of COVID and it's been quite enjoyable to see each of these players."
 
HESRON BARRY | DEFENDER | SO. | BARTON C.C. | OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA 
Bonomo on Barry: "We needed additional pace and power in our backline and we have gained that with Hesron. He'll bring an added dimension to our defense. His versatility will also allow us to use him in multiple spots."
 
JESUS GALVAN-GARCIA | DEFENDER | FR. | UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD | BLAINE, MINN.
Bonomo on Galvan-Garcia: "Jesus joins a long line of talented players that we have had from Minnesota. Coming off an injury in his first season, I know he's eager to prove himself. His determination and approach to the game are exactly what we wanted."
 
HYEONSANG JANG | DEFENDER | SO. | PIMA C.C. | JEONJU, SOUTH KOREA
Bonomo on Jang: "Hyeonsang is a very technical player that is poised and composed on the ball. His ability to play in tight spaces out of the back is what impressed me from the moment I saw him play in 2019. Most importantly, he's a winner, having won the 2021 NJCAA National Championship."
 
JELONI MURRAY-POWELL | MIDFIELDER | FR. | ATHLETES INSTITUTE FC | PICKERING, ONTARIO
Bonomo on Murray-Powell: "Jeloni will be adding athleticism and physical play to our midfield. The way he plays the game is admirable. He also has an innate way to inspire others on the field to always bring their best. I see him blending in quite well with our existing roster."
 
CHRISTOPH SCHURZ | DEFENDER/MIDFIELDER | FR. | SG DYNAMO DRESDEN | DRESDEN, GERMANY
Bonomo on Schurz: "Christoph is coming to us after a very successful youth career in Germany. His U17 and U19 experience align with the type of player we want here. He's also had the opportunity to train with his club in the 2. Bundesliga which will serve him well here."
