ABOUT THE NORSE
Northern Kentucky is tied with the Cleveland State Vikings for second place in the Horizon League with a 7-2 conference record. The Norse have won nine in a row, with their win streak briefly interrupted at the beginning of January by two games (one vs. Robert Morris and another vs. Youngstown State) that were deemed no contest. NKU's last defeat was against Cleveland State, which was an 11-point loss at home on December 3.
Lindsey Duvall paces the Norse, averaging 18.8 points per game, second in the HL to Cleveland State's Destiny Leo. This season, the season's two-time HL Player of the Week ranks in the top five in rebounds per game (7.4), field goal percentage (40.2), free throw percentage (83.1), three-point field goals made per game (2.3), and minutes (34.9).
SERIES HISTORY
The Phoenix has dominated Wright State historically, winning 66 of their 72 matchups. GB swept WSU to end the regular season last year, narrowly defeating the Raiders on the road 66-62 on Feb. 19, 2021, and then 61-58 on Feb. 20, 2021. The Phoenix also swept Northern Kentucky on the road last season, posting two of the 12 total wins GB has against the Norse all-time. Earlier this year GB took down Wright State 78-67, but fell to NKU 61-52.
LAST TIME OUT
Green Bay was scheduled to play Milwaukee on Jan. 21 & 23, but the games were rescheduled to Feb. 7 & 21 due to COVID-19 complications within the Milwaukee program. The Phoenix will play their first game Thursday since Jan. 8, when they defeated UIC handedly, 75-38.
ENEMY TERRITORY
Last year, the Phoenix played two games at Northern Kentucky and Wright State each. They went 4-0 in those games, outscoring the Norse and Raiders by an average of 5.5 points per game.
FAMILIAR FACE
WSU head coach Kari Hoffmann served as Green Bay's Director of Basketball Operations from 2008-2010 under head coach
Kevin Borseth. During her time, GB won two Horizon League championships, representing the HL in the NCAA tournament both years. GB took down five-seeded Virginia in the first round of the 2009-10 tournament.
LOCK IT DOWN
Green Bay's defense has been one of the best in the Horizon League all season. Currently, the team yields 56.6 points to opponents per game, tied with IUPUI for the second-best mark in the HL. GB also holds opponents to 37.4-percent shooting, the third-lowest in the league.
CHARITY STRIPE CHANCES
Out of the 348 Division 1 teams, GB currently ranks 19th nationally in free throw percentage (77.8-percent). The Phoenix has four players who have at least 10 free throw attempts and are shooting 80+ percent from the line:
