GREEN BAY, Wis. – One of the biggest weekends in recent memory is on tap for the Green Bay volleyball team, as they host Wright State on Friday night and Northern Kentucky on Saturday. Currently, the Raiders are in the first place, Green Bay in second, and the Norse in third.

Green Bay is 31-35 all-time after dropping the contest against the Raiders earlier this season. The Phoenix will look to break a five-game losing streak against WSU, who is also on a 14 match winning streak. Green Bay enters Friday winners of five in a row. Meanwhile, Northern Kentucky has won six straight, and will look to overtake the second spot in the Horizon League standings. The top two in the standings at the end of the season will receive first round byes in the Horizon League Championships.
ABOUT THE RAIDERS
Travers Green is in his first season at the helm of the Wright State program and is off to a great start. The Raiders are 19-3 and ride the longest win streak in the Horizon League into Titletown for a Friday night showdown.
The Raiders feature a very balanced attack, with Sam Ott and Callie Martin sitting at 228 kills each. Taylor Bransfield is right behind them as well with 223 kills. Bransfield is also one of the Raiders' top defenders, recording 75 blocks, nearly one per set. Jenna Story is second in the HL with 461 digs.
ABOUT THE NORSE
Liz Hart is in her 12th season with Northern Kentucky, boasting a tremendous 220-142. The Norse started slowly with just a 4-9 record through the first 13 games this season. However, NKU is on a six-game winning streak as they head into their match Friday at Milwaukee.
Anna Brinkmann leads the charge for NKU with 232 kills. Torie Houston is among the best setters in the Horizon League, tallying a team-leading 297 assists, an average of 4.50 per set. Allie Siefke has registered 91.0 blocks.
EIGHTY FOR ABBEY
With Green Bay's next victory, head coach Abbey Sutherland will garner her 80th win in her time at Green Bay. She ranks third all-time in wins with the Phoenix.

AMAZING ANGIE
Angie Gromos has been a player to watch all season. The grad transfer from Northern Illinois is fifth on the squad in kills (147, 1.67/set) and paces the team with 111.0 blocks - an average of 1.26 per set - which is first in the Horizon League. Gromos was named Horizon League Player of the Week on Sept. 7 and will be an important piece down the stretch after Tiffany Paalman's injury on October 7.
MS. ASSIST
Calli Gentry is having another remarkable season for the Phoenix. Currently, she is seventh in the nation in assists, racking up 922 of them in 91 sets (10.12/set). In 2021, Gentry totaled 1,227 in 121 sets, an average of 10.14 per set. Gentry, a redshirt sophomore, was selected to the 2021 Horizon League All-Academic Team and took part in the USA Volleyball National Team Open Program this past offseason.
