Phoenix Volleyball Takes On Milwaukee In Regular Season Finale

GREEN BAY, Wis. – It's the final week of the regular season for the Green Bay volleyball team, as only one contest remains for the Phoenix before the Horizon League Championships. GB will hit the road to take on Milwaukee on Friday at 6 p.m.

Earlier this season, Green Bay snapped a six-game losing streak to Milwaukee with a 3-0 sweep at home. GB is third in the Horizon League, while Milwaukee enters the match with a fourth-place HL standing.
  
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Susie Johnson is in her 25th season as a member of the Milwaukee coaching staff and her 16th as head coach. Panthers teams have gone 264-185 during her head coaching tenure and won the Horizon League regular season title during the 2021 season.
 
Three Panthers are above 250 kills on the season, with Madi Malone (278), Natalie Schmitz (268), and Ari Miller (265) hitting the mark. Kaley Blake and Josie Johnson have combined for 998 assists on the season. De Pere, Wis., native Bri Geurts leads Milwaukee in blocks with 85.
  
A FOND FAREWELL
The Phoenix won their last home game of the season in straight sets against IUPUI on Tuesday, November 1. The final three games of the regular season are all road contests for the Phoenix, and the Horizon League tournament will take place in Dayton, Ohio with Wright State playing host. GB's home record in 2022 is 10-3, compared to a road record of 6-6. 
  
A PROBLEM FOR THE PANTHERS
Senior Shannon Coughlin recorded 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .393 against Oakland on November 5. Her best hitting percentage of the year came in Green Bay's first matchup with Milwaukee, hitting .519 at home on October 14. Coughlin also racked up double-digit kills against Purdue Fort Wayne, Youngstown State, and Wright State in the back half of October.
  
CONSISTENCY COUNTS
Alexandra Zakutney and Calli Gentry are the only two Phoenix players that have played all 109 sets this season. Zakutney leads the team in kills with 380 and is third in digs with 301. Gentry leads the Horizon League in assists with 1,106 and leads Green Bay in service aces with 39. Sophomore Abby Gardner has missed only one set for GB and is third on the squad in assists.
