Green Bay and Milwaukee first squared off in 1975 when the Panthers opened the long history between the two programs with a 56-32 win over GB. However, the Phoenix has dominated since, holding 73-22 record, including 27-13 on the road against Milwaukee. Green Bay lost to the Panthers 50-48 in their last meeting in the 414, but GB handled MKE in the Horizon League Championship Quarterfinal last March, 57-42.

IUPUI and the Phoenix will meet for just the 11th time on Saturday. GB has a 7-3 record against the Jaguars, including a split in two games last year.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Milwaukee is off to a 2-4 start under Kyle Rechlicz, who enters her 11th season at the helm of the program. Rechlicz, who played college basketball at Wisconsin in the early 2000s, has an even 154-154 record, with her entire head coaching career spent in the Cream City.

Emma Wittmershaus, Angie Cera, and Grace Crowley have created a dynamic trio for the Panthers. Wittmershaus paces the team in scoring (9.2 PPG), while Crowley leads the team with 4.7 rebounds per contest. Crowley and Walstad are part of a three-way tie alongside Kamy Peppler for most assists per game (1.8 APG). Cera averages 8.0 points, and 1.7 rebounds per contest.

ABOUT THE JAGUARS
IUPUI had a busy offseason after winning the Horizon League regular season and tournament title last year. The HL Player of the Year last season, Macece Williams, was drafted in the 3rd round (32nd overall) to the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA. Head coach Austin Parkinson also departed for Butler, leading to the hiring of Kate Bruce, who was named the tenth head coach of the program in May 2022. Bruce compiled a winning record of 134-43 (.757) in six seasons at DII school Walsh University before coming to Indy.

Jazmyn Turner, one of two transfers and five newcomers, paces IUPUI in scoring (12.0 PPG) and rebounding (6.2 RPG). Destiny Perkins averages 3.5 assists per contest, which leads the team.

LAST MATCHUP
Green Bay split their games at the St. Pete Showcase in St. Petersburg, Florida last week. The Phoenix led most of the contest against Florida but fell 61-52. Last Friday, GB pulled out a 56-46 win over Northeastern thanks to a dominant fourth quarter in which the Phoenix outscored the Huskies 25-13.

SCHREIBER STUFFER
Maddy Schreiber has registered a block in two of GB's first five games. Last season, the forward tallied a team-leading 14 blocks in 27 games. Schreiber is on pace for the same amount this year with 29 games on the docket.

OH MY OSKEY
Senior guard Hailey Oskey has opened the 2022 campaign on a tear, leading the Phoenix in all but one major statistical category. The Seymour, Wis. native paces GB in:

  • Points (10.6 PPG)
  • Rebounds (5.6 RPG)
  • Assists (2.6 APG)
  • Steals (1.4 SPG)
  • Minutes (30.4 MPG)

DUB NATION
The 2022-23 season marks head coach Kevin Borseth's 36th season as a head coach and 20th with Green Bay. Borseth is an impressive 458-136 in his first 19 years with the Phoenix and garnered his 770th career win against Northeastern. Borseth holds a 770-305 all-time record, with stops at Michigan Tech, Michigan, and Green Bay. The Phoenix has also punched a ticket to 13 NCAA appearances under Borseth.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Natalie McNeal and Brehna Evans, who both transferred to Green Bay during the offseason, are local products. McNeal played high school basketball at Germantown and was a two-time All-State First Team member. Evans played at West De Pere High School, scoring over 1,000 career points with the Phantoms and averaging 14.5 points per contest during her career.

WIN FROM WITHIN
Head coach Kevin Borseth has garnered a plethora of talent from the state of Wisconsin. This season, 13 of the 15 players are from Wisconsin. Jenna Guyer (Circle Pines, Minn.) and Tatum Koenig (West Branch, Iowa) are the only players not originally from the dairyland.

CHARITY STRIPE CHANCES
Green Bay has picked up where it left off after last year's success at the charity stripe, finishing ninth in the nation in free throw percentage (78.6 percent). Through the team's first five games, GB is first in the NCAA in the same category, making a surreal 88.0 percent (44-of-50) from the line.

NEW PHOENIX FACES
Green Bay welcomes three new members for the 2022-23 season.
