GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay softball is gearing up for the 2023 campaign after a successful 2022 season. The Phoenix will kick their season off with the Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio, Texas on February 10-12.
Sara Kubuske will begin her fourth season at the helm of the program, posting a 52-61 record in her first three seasons with Green Bay. Kubuske helped Green Bay softball navigate through the pandemic when COVID-19 first disrupted the 2020 season, her first at GB. In 2021, Kubuske led Green Bay to a 23-21 record. Last season, the Phoenix went 25-25, highlighted by Alicia Peters crushing multiple records and being named the Horizon League Player of the Year, Tiffany Giese breaking the single-season stolen bases record, and the program's first postseason victory since 2015.
Last season, the Phoenix finished 15-10 in Horizon League play, and earned the no. 5 seed heading into the Horizon League Championships. Green Bay beat no. 4 seed Robert Morris in the tournament's opening round before falling in consecutive games to Oakland and Robert Morris. Green Bay will return eight from the 2022 roster, including All-League selections Tiffany Giese, Jadin Justman, Samantha Saloun, Brittany Baneck, and Abby Gawlinski. GB will also welcome 10 newcomers to the 2023 squad.
