GREEN BAY, Wis. – For the first time in a month, the Green Bay women's basketball team returns to the Kress Center for a clash against North Dakota State. The game marks the first of five home games in a six-game stretch in December.

The Phoenix is 6-2 against the Bison all-time. GB is also 4-0 at home against NDSU, boasting an average margin of victory of 23.0. Green Bay has defeated North Dakota State by no less than 14 each time NDSU has visited Titletown. The programs last met on November 13, 2021, when Green Bay defeated NDSU 71-54 at the Kress Center.
ABOUT THE BISON
Jory Collins is in his fourth season as head coach of the Bison. He is 23-27 at North Dakota State but has an impressive 242-106 record in a dozen seasons as a head coach, having spent eight seasons at NCAA Division II Emporia State. The Bison started the season blazing with a 6-0 record, but have dropped three straight.
Heaven Hamling is the player to watch for NDSU, leading the Bison in numerous statistical categories, including points per game (16.3), assists per game (3.3), steals per game (2.2), and minutes per game (32.9).
LAST MATCHUP
Green Bay opened its Horizon League slate last week, falling to Milwaukee 59-52 in the opener before responding with an 81-76 win at IUPUI. Green Bay preserved a 42-32 halftime lead before going on a 9-0 run, expanding its lead further to 53-37 with 5:45 to go in the third. Despite a late IUPUI run, Bailey Butler helped ice the game with free throws and gave Green Bay the 81-76 victory.
SCHREIBER STUFFER
Maddy Schreiber has registered a block in three of GB's first seven games. Last season, the forward tallied a team-leading 14 blocks in 27 games. Schreiber is on pace for the same amount this year with 29 games on the docket. She had two rejections at IUPUI last Saturday.
OH MY OSKEY
Senior guard Hailey Oskey has had a hot start to the 2022 campaign, leading the Phoenix in all but two major statistical categories. The Seymour, Wis. native paces GB in:
- Points (9.7 PPG)
- Rebounds (5.4 RPG)
- Steals (1.6 SPG)
- Minutes (29.9 MPG)
DUB NATION
The 2022-23 season marks head coach Kevin Borseth's 36th season as a head coach and 20th with Green Bay. Borseth is an impressive 459-137 in his first 19 years with the Phoenix and garnered his 770th career win against Northeastern. Borseth holds a 771-306 record, with stops at Michigan Tech, Michigan, and Green Bay. The Phoenix has also punched a ticket to 13 NCAA appearances under Borseth.
WELCOME HOME
Natalie McNeal and Brehna Evans, who both transferred to Green Bay during the offseason, are local products. McNeal played high school basketball at Germantown and was a two-time All-State First Team member. Evans played at West De Pere HS, scoring over 1,000 career points with the Phantoms and averaging 14.5 points per contest over her career.
KEEPING IT LOCAL
Kevin Borseth has garnered a plethora of talent from the state of Wisconsin. This season, 13 of the 15 players come from inside the state border. The only two not originally from the Dairyland are Jenna Guyer (Circle Pines, Minn.) and Tatum Koenig (West Branch, Iowa).
CHARITY STRIPE CHANCES
Green Bay has been otherworldly from the free-throw line since last season. In 2021-22, the Phoenix finished 9th in the country with a 78.9-percent team free throw percentage. Through nine games this season, GB ranks 1st in the nation in the same category with an 87.7-percent free throw percentage. Currently, eight Phoenix are shooting 80 percent or higher, with three players tallying 10 or more free throw attempts. Bailey Butler highlights the team with a perfect 12-for-12 from the line, while Cassie Schiltz is 8-for-8.
LIGHT IT UP LEVY
Senior guard Sydney Levy has been locked in this season, posting elite numbers from the field. Known for her ability to shoot the deep ball, Levy is shooting 23-of-47 (48.9 percent) overall while splashing 15 of 30 triples. She has also made both of her free throw attempts. Versus IUPUI, she totaled a season-high 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The Phoenix play five of their next six contests at home after recently playing five consecutive on the road. GB will host Wisconsin next Wednesday night, Chicago State on Dec. 21, Oakland on Dec. 29, and Detroit Mercy on Dec. 31. The lone away game is Illinois state on Dec. 18. Homestand highlights include Greenout Night presented by Associated Bank against Wisconsin, Bud Light night against Chicago State, Military Appreciation Night against Oakland, and a New Year's Eve bash against Detroit Mercy.
