GREEN BAY, Wis. – For the third-straight week and fourth time this season, Green Bay freshman guard
Bailey Butler has been named the Nike Horizon League Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Butler helped GB to wins over UIC and IUPUI, extending the Phoenix win streak to ten games.
Butler had another solid week for Green Bay. In a decisive 75-46 win over UIC, Butler filled the box score with four points, six rebounds, and three assists while shooting 2-for-3 from the floor. In GB's huge win over IUPUI on Saturday, Butler had a near double-double, posting eight points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes. The South Wayne, Wis. native was efficient from downtown, going 2-for-4 from behind the line.
In 21 games this season, Butler is averaging 6.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Green Bay is right back in action tonight, as they travel to Milwaukee for a 7 p.m. showdown at the Klotsche Center. GB closes the regular season at Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday and Cleveland State on Saturday.
The Phoenix currently sits at No. 2 in the Horizon League standings but could win the regular season Horizon League title if results around the league go their way in the final week. Youngstown State currently sits in the No. 1 slot, but if they drop one of their final two games, and GB wins out, Green Bay would claim the HL title. The Penguins hit the road this week to take on IUPUI on Thursday, and UIC on Saturday.
