Green Bay Falls to Bellarmine, Shuts Out Western Michigan

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Green Bay softball team opened up the Bellarmine Invite Saturday afternoon with a split, dropping their opening contest to Bellarmine 2-1, before taking down Western Michigan 3-0.

GAME 1
Bellarmine got on the board first, brining home a run in the first inning thanks to a Sarah Ratterman sac-fly that scored Grace Werner. The Phoenix tied it up in the third when sophomore Samantha Saloun drove home senior Isabella Curtin. Ratterman came up big again for the Knights in the fourth inning, hitting a solo shot which proved to be the winner.

Senior Brittany Baneck (0-0) got the ball to start for Green Bay (4-6) and took the loss. The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits, allowing one walk and striking out seven.

Offensively, the Phoenix were led by senior Curtin, who went 1-for-1 with a double and a run scored.
