Golf Finishes 2022 Season On High Note at #HLGOLF Championships

ORLANDO, Fla. – The 2022 golf season has concluded for the Green Bay men's and women's golf teams, with both ending on a strong note at the Horizon League Championships at Mission Inn Resort & Club. The women were especially strong, with the team finishing in second place and Isabelle Maleki tying for second in the individual championships.

The women got their second-place finish late thanks to a strong finish in the final four holes. Cleveland State, who took third, held a one-stroke lead through the 15th green, but Green Bay put their foot on the gas and finished two strokes ahead of the Vikings. Maleki had an incredible Tuesday, shooting a 74 (+1) to grab the second-place finish and a spot on the All-Tournament team. Maleki's finish is the highest a Green Bay golfer has finished in the Horizon League Championships. A look at how each GB women's golfer finished the HL Tournament:

Isabelle Maleki – T2, 227 (+8)
Ashley Kulka – T17, 234 (+15)
Caylie Kotlowski – T17, 234 (+15)
Katie Warpinski – T20, 235 (+16)
Courtney Matschke – 23, 236 (+17)

"We are obviously disappointed that we weren't able to finish in first, but I am extremely proud of the way the team played this week," said head coach Lee Reinke. "We shot a score that would win the Horizon League most years, but hats off to Oakland, they played unbelievable the whole event and deserved the win. I'm proud of the team for topping our third-place finish from a year ago – now we just have to use this momentum and continue to build on this going into next year."

The men were led by Austin Schnell, who shot a 228 (+12) over the three-day event, and helped Green Bay finish eighth. For the first two days, GB was within a handful of strokes from reaching as high as fifth place, but IUPUI and Northern Kentucky pulled away on Tuesday for a sixth and seventh place finish. A look at how each GB men's golfer finished the HL Tournament:

Austin Schnell – T27, 228 (+12)
Zak Kulka – T32, 233 (+17)
Joe Forsting – 38, 236 (+20)
Max Pasher – T40, 238 (+22)
