YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The 2022 season has come to an end for the Green Bay softball team after a pair of losses on day two of the Horizon League Championships. The Phoenix fell in their first game of the day to Oakland, 2-0, before dropping a second to Robert Morris 7-1.
GAME 1 | Oakland 2, Green Bay 0
The only scoring in the game came on a two-RBI double from Oakland's Cammie Brummitt in the third inning. Green Bay struggled to get a big hit to break the game open, going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. The Phoenix last got a runner on third in the fourth, when senior Crystal Guzman made it 60 feet away from scoring with two outs.
Senior Brittany Baneck (12-11) got the ball to start for Green Bay and took the loss. The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on four hits, allowing no walks, and striking out two. Sydney Campbell got the win for the Golden Grizzlies.
Sophomore Katie Joten led the way offensively for the Phoenix, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame. Alicia Peters was strong at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.
GAME NOTES
» The Phoenix out-hit the Golden Grizzlies at a 6-4 clip.
» Green Bay out-hit Oakland 6-4.
» Five errors were committed in the game, two by Green Bay and three by Oakland.
» Oakland was led offensively by senior Cammie Brummitt, who went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

GAME 2 | Robert Morris 7, Green Bay 1
Robert Morris started strong, putting up three runs in the second and third innings to take a 6-0 advantage. Green Bay's bats struggled to get going, with the first hit of the game coming on an RBI single from senior Tiffany Giese to cut the Colonials' lead to 6-1. The Phoenix was unable to get any closer, as Robert Morris added one run to their tally on the way to a 7-1 final.
Freshman Abigail Gawlinski (9-6) started and took the loss in the circle for Green Bay. Baneck was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 3.1 innings, surrendering one run on three hits, walking one, and striking out five.
Giese led the way offensively for the Phoenix, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with an RBI. Junior Becca Edwards had a solid game as well, going 1-for-2 with a walk.
GAME NOTES

» Sophomore Jadin Justman was the third Phoenix batter to get a hit.
