BOULDER, Colo. -The Green Bay volleyball team fell to the Western Michigan Broncos in three sets (21-25, 20-25, 21-25) Saturday at CU Events Center. The Phoenix finished the weekend 1-2 after splitting day one of the tournament, falling to Colorado in three sets before taking down Denver in four.

The GB attack was paced by Tiffany Paalman, who finished with 11 kills on a.304 hitting percentage, and by Alexandra Zakutney, who also had 11. The Phoenix got 15 digs from Kayla Lass along with six blocks from Angie Gromos to lead them defensively.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET 1 | The Phoenix fell behind early in set one, losing the first set 25-21. Green Bay trailed by as many as six points as Western Michigan grabbed the advantage for good at 12-11 in a set that was knotted up three times before the Broncos took control.

SET 2 | Green Bay then lost the second set 25-20 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Broncos again grabbed the advantage at 12-11 in a set that was tied up eight times before they separated themselves.

SET 3 | Western Michigan finished off the sweep with a third-set victory, 25-21. Green Bay trailed by as many as six points as Western Michigan grabbed the advantage at 16-15 in a set that was knotted up seven times before the Broncos took over in the second half of the stanza.

GAME NOTES
» Angie Gromos had a match-high six blocks.
» Tiffany Paalman had a team-high 11 kills for Green Bay.
» Green Bay got a match-high 15 digs from Kayla Lass.
» Green Bay attackers were helped by a team-high 23 assists from Calli Gentry.

ALL-TOURNAMENT TIFFANY
After a strong opening weekend, Tiffany Paalman was selected as a member of the Buffs Invitational All-Tournament Team. Paalman finished the weekend with a team-leading 28 kills on a hitting percentage of .333. Paalman was also strong defensively, finishing with seven blocks across the three matches.

UP NEXT
Green Bay will have a chance to bounce back next weekend when they travel to Normal, Illinois for the Redbird Classic. While at the tournament, the Phoenix will take on SEMO, Illinois State, and Oral Roberts.
