DAYTON, Ohio - The Green Bay women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 defeat Thursday night at Wright State. With the loss, Green dropped to 2-4-2 overall and 0-1-2 in Horizon League play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Wright State drew first blood, grabbing a 1-0 lead thanks to a 26th minute goal from Lauren Borchert, assisted by Josie Krupp. The Raiders were able to increase their lead to 2-0 before the half on a goal from Lena Jenssen in the 41st minute.
Wright State expanded its lead once again at the start of the second half, with Elise Canter making the score 3-0 in the 48th minute. The Phoenix narrowed the Raiders lead and made it a 3-1 game with a 50th-minute goal from Emily Murphy, her first goal of the season. Unfortunately, GB wasn't able to get any closer, as Wright State scored again in the 66th minute to put the game out of reach.
GAME NOTES
- Annie Mason piled up eight saves for the Phoenix out of 21 total Raiders shots.
- Green Bay totaled four shots on goal.
- The Raiders' Amber Branum was the only player booked in the match, picking up a yellow card in the 69th minute.
COMING UP
Next up for the Phoenix will be the final 37 minutes of their previously postponed match against St. Thomas. The game will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. in the 53rd minute with the Tommies holding a 2-0 lead.
