Green Bay Outpaced at Northern Kentucky

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - In the first game with Interim Head Coach Freddie Owens at the helm, the Green Bay men's basketball team fell at Northern Kentucky, 68-50. Cade Meyer, Clarence Cummings III, and Jack Rose combined to score 38 of Green Bay's 50 total points, but it wasn't enough Thursday night.

Meyer led the Phoenix (2-20, 1-10) with 16 points and eight rebounds. Cummings III added 13 points and six rebounds and Rose helped out with nine points from the bench, all coming in the first half.

Green Bay took advantage of fantastic ball movement in Thursday's game, piling up 16 assists on 19 made field goals. Individually, Ryan Wade led the Phoenix with four assists while Nate Jenkins also added three assists of his own.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Norse showcased why they are currently at the top of the Horizon League early, grabbing a 23-10 advantage after 12 minutes. The Phoenix responded with a 13-6 run of their own to bring it to 29-23 with just over three minutes. GB's run was fueled by three threes from Rose off the bench. The deficit was closed narrowly by a Cummings three with three seconds left at 31-26.

Northern Kentucky once again opened a 12 point lead before GB responded and cut it to six thanks to a Ryan Wade corner three with 12:20 left in the second. However, that was as close as the game would get, with the Norse slowly building their lead before taking the game by a score of 68-50.
