EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Green Bay softball team fell in the final game of the UE Softball Invitational on Monday to Evansville, 6-0.

Green Bay struggled to get the bats going consistently, stringing together just four hits, and putting runners in scoring position three times but failing to bring any runs across.

Freshman Viviana Guzman (1-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Green Bay (4-6). Senior Brittany Baneck was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 5.2 innings, surrendering three runs, one earned, on three hits, walking four, and striking out two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Evansville started on the front foot, scoring three runs in the first inning. The Purple Aces added on three more in the sixth before shutting down a potential seventh inning Green Bay rally in the top of the seventh.

GAME NOTES

» Green Bay pitchers limited Evansville to just 2-for-13 (.154) with runners in scoring position.

» Tiffany Giese, Kendal Herscbach, Jadin Justman, and Randi McKay each had hits for the Phoenix.

» The Phoenix drew four walks from Evansville pitching.

» Evansville was led offensively by junior Alexa Davis, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

» Erin Kleffman led the Purple Aces pitching staff, throwing four scoreless innings.

NEXT UP
