Kevin Borseth Named Horizon League Coach of the Year, Sydney Levy Earns First Team, Bailey Butler Named Second Team and All-Defense

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League office announced the #HLWBB All-League Awards Monday afternoon, and the Green Bay women's basketball team had multiple individuals honored. Phoenix head Kevin Borseth was named Coach of the Year, Sydney Levy was named All-League First Team, and Bailey Butler was named All-League Second Team and All-Defense.

Borseth is in his 20th season as head coach of the Phoenix. During the 2022-23 season, he led GB to its 21st Horizon League regular-season title and its 32nd 20-win season. It is the ninth time Borseth has been named the Horizon League Coach of the Year, and first since the 2013-14 season. Borseth is the most decorated coach in league history, with former Green Bay head coach Matt Bollant garnering the second-most COTY awards with four. The Phoenix went 25-4 during the regular season, including an 18-2 Horizon League record and a 13-1 home record en route to the top seed in the Horizon League tournament. On a personal level, Borseth moved into the top 20 for wins among NCAA women's basketball coaches, finishing the season with 791 career wins. That number is good for eighth among active coaches.

After starting the season in a role off the bench, Sydney Levy has been named to All-Horizon League First Team. During the regular season the Oshkosh, Wis., native, averaged career-highs in points (11.7), rebounds (4.1), and assists (1.5). Levy has started the last 22 games for the Phoenix and registered 17 games in double-digit scoring this season, including a double-double (13 points and 11 rebounds) against Oakland on Dec. 29. One of the best shooters in the HL, Levy ranks fourth in the Horizon League in three-pointers made per game at 2.1. Last week, Levy was also named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team.

After earning Freshman of the Year, Sixth Player of the Year, and a spot on the All-Freshman Team in 2021-22, Bailey Butler returns for more accolades in 2022-23. The South Wayne, Wis. native was the only player to start all 29 games for the Phoenix during the regular season. Butler led the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.25), tied for the conference lead in total assists (117), and tied for eighth in total assists (40). Butler averaged 8.9 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game, but is also one of the league's best point-of-attack defenders, consistently taking the toughest guard assignments the Phoenix faced.

The 2023 Barbasol Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin Feb. 28 and March 2 at campus sites before moving to the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis for the semifinals and finals March 6-7. As the top seed, Green Bay will host the lowest remaining seed following the first round at 7 p.m. on March 2 at the Kress Center.

All games of the tournament will be broadcast on ESPN+ save for the championship game, which will air on Tuesday, March 7 at 11 a.m. CT on ESPNU.

Below is the complete list of this year's honorees. Voting was conducted by the 11 Horizon League head coaches.
