DAYTON, Ohio – The 2022-23 season came to an end for the Green Bay men's basketball team on Tuesday night as the Phoenix fell in the Horizon League Championship First Round to the No. 7 seed Wright State, 77-57.
Randy Tucker, Clarence Cummings III, and Cade Meyer combined to score 44 of Green Bay's 57 total points, with Tucker leading the way with 20. Cummings III tacked on 14 points and two steals and Meyer helped out with 10 points and two blocks.
Horizon League Freshman of the Year Brandon Noel led the Raiders with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Trey Calvin and Tim Finke also poured in 14 and 13 respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The two teams went bucket-for-bucket during the games first ten minutes, with the Raiders holding a slight 18-17 lead. Over the next four minutes Wright State went on a 7-0 run that would prove to be the difference in the half. Neither team gained any ground the rest of the way and WSU went into the half with a 35-27 lead.

Wright State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 47-33 advantage before Green Bay went on a 6-0 run, finished off by
Clarence Cummings III's three, to shrink the deficit to 47-39 with 13:57 to go in the contest. Green Bay would momentarily cut the lead to seven, but Wright State responded and outscored the Phoenix the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 77-57.
GAME NOTES
» Wright State outrebounded Green Bay 42-20.
» The Raiders did their damage in the paint, outscoring the Phoenix 36-20.
» The Green Bay defense forced 13 turnovers while only committing six of their own.
» Tucker finished the season strong, averaging 19.5 points in the last two games of the year.
» Green Bay got a team-high six rebounds from Tucker.
