INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - It was a tough shooting day for the Green Bay men's basketball team en route to a 68-53 loss at IUPUI on Saturday. The Phoenix finished the game 18-for-54 (34.6-percent) from the floor and 6-for-24 (25.0-percent) from three while the Jaguars shot 51.9-percent and 18.2-percent respectively.
The Phoenix (2-22, 1-12) had two players score in double figures, led by Cade Meyer, who had 16 points and seven rebounds. Clarence Cummings III also scored in double digits, finishing with 14 points and three rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay jumped out to an early 8-4 lead thanks in part to five points from Meyer in the game's first three minutes. The Jaguars would turn the half around from that point on, outscoring the Phoenix 27-17 the rest of the way to take a 31-25 lead into the half. Meyer scored 11 of GB's 25 points in the opening 20 minutes.
Cummings came alive for the Phoenix late, scoring eight points in the final seven minutes, but it proved to be too little too late. IUPUI built its lead to 14 down the stretch before eventually taking the game 68-53.
